Born in Shropshire,
England over 50 years ago I was variously a farmer, game warden,
dog warden and Environmental Health Officer. After 20+ years in
local government I set up my own trekking company in Nepal (which
I subsequently quietly wound down after 9/11 and the Maoist problems).
I still trek widely, having just returned from Patagonia in early
2006.
I started Cookinabook (about 4 years ago) which contrary to all
normal business practices thrives on my haphazard management. I
say haphazard, not because I don't know what I'm doing, but because
it has grown like topsy. In 2005 we produced many thousands of
books, calendars and cards. Not because I have a magnificent business
plan or sales team but, in my opinion, because I deliver what I
promise. I'm sure one day I'll get an order wrong (hey that's life)
but when I do -well I'll put it right and have a laugh about it.
I now live and work in Dorset, England. I have a fast developing interest in photography
(which comes in useful with the books sometimes) and examples of
my work can be seen here.
